Transcriber's notes
Please note that Obe was renamed Leverburgh after 1918. It should be borne in mind that in 1883 the islands in the Sound of Harris, between Harris and North Uist, were reckoned to be part of Harris. Nowadays, they are part of North Uist.

Some of the testimony from Obbe has been researched further by blogger "Direcleit". Upon clicking the link, the blog will open with the posts making reference to the Napier Commission; some do not have bearing on South Harris.
